Warm up: Slowly stretch and do range-of-motion (ROM) exercises (i.e. walking and swinging your arms, gently to work into full ROM or to what you are able to accomplish).
Hot and swollen joints: Ice them for 10 – 15 minutes before you warm up. If you are stiff, use warm heat (i.e. shower, heating pad) for approximately 20 minutes. Again, before you warm up.
Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Clothing that can be layered so that it can be easily removed/or added as needed. Shoes should have good support and have non-skid, shock absorbing capabilities
